Solo Eb Bass

Ben’s brass journey began at primary school with Rochdale Music Service, progressing through their junior, intermediate and youth bands in both brass band and wind band settings. That steady route through the system laid the foundations for a strong, reliable bass player.

A major highlight so far has been being part of the first English band to win back‑to‑back championships at the Scottish Open – a piece of band history that Ben is very proud to share.

The 2025 Scottish Open performance in particular stands out as one of the most enjoyable times Ben has had on stage with Milnrow. The combination of focus, teamwork and sheer enjoyment made it a contest to remember.

Away from the contest platform, Ben values being part of a group that supports one another through the highs and lows of life. Milnrow feels like extended family, and the friendships in and around the bandroom mean a great deal.

Outside music, Ben has a long‑running love of cricket. Having played at a young age, Ben is now back involved with local club Norden CC as a keen supporter and occasional emergency player when the team needs a last‑minute extra.
