Milnrow Retain the Scottish Open Title

Milnrow Band are proud to be crowned Scottish Open Champions for the second year running, following another outstanding performance at Perth Concert Hall.

Facing a strong Championship Section field from across the UK, the band successfully defended their title with a confident and musically assured performance of Metropolis 1927 by Peter Graham, conducted by Christopher Binns. In a closely fought contest, Milnrow topped the results with 196 points, securing a memorable back-to-back victory.

The win places Milnrow among a select group of bands to have retained the Scottish Open title and underlines the band’s continued progress and consistency at the highest level of contesting.

Alongside the band’s success, Jacob Hickson was awarded Best Euphonium, a fantastic personal achievement made even more special as it came on his first Scottish Open appearance. His playing was recognised by the adjudicators for its musicality and contribution to the overall performance.

The high standard of the contest and Milnrow’s performance were highlighted in reports from both the Scottish Brass Band Association and 4barsrest:
