Lizzie Logie
Flugel Horn
Lizzie joined Milnrow Band in June 2024, fresh from a two‑year stint on repiano cornet at Rainford. Brass banding has been part of life since the age of seven, when Lizzie signed up with Pontoon Youth Brass Band and the school band shortly after – mainly to annoy an older brother who was already playing. It turned out to be a very successful act of sibling rivalry.
A serial contest-goer, Lizzie’s proudest moment so far was winning the Best Soloist prize at the Second Section National Finals in 2019 and, thanks to Covid cancelling the 2020 event, holding that title for two years. Before joining Milnrow, Lizzie also racked up nine appearances at the Royal Albert Hall with Redbridge Brass in the Championship National Finals while living in London.
While contest results are great for the band, Lizzie’s favourite Milnrow moments happen away from the contest stage. The Terence O’Grady concerts – fun, interactive performances for adults with learning disabilities – are a highlight: seeing the direct joy that music brings to people is what really matters.
What Lizzie loves most about Milnrow is the people. Players from different generations and walks of life all share the same “give it your all” attitude, creating a band room that feels like home.
